At Mount Eliza Secondary College, we know that every day at school matters. Regular attendance supports not only academic success, but also helps students build important social skills, resilience and positive habits for life. Missing even one day a fortnight can add up to weeks of lost learning each year, making it harder for students to keep up and feel connected.

In line with our Attendance Policy, students are expected to attend school every day and arrive on time, unless there is a valid reason. Families play a vital role by ensuring their child attends, communicating any absences, and working in partnership with the College when challenges arise.

Simple routines—such as consistent bedtimes, preparing for school the night before, and scheduling appointments outside school hours—can make a significant difference. If your child is experiencing difficulties with attendance, we encourage you to reach out to their Year Level Coordinator or wellbeing staff so we can provide support.

For students, attending school is one of their most important responsibilities right now. Beyond academic learning, school helps develop essential life skills such as teamwork, communication and meeting expectations—skills that are critical for future work and life. We understand that there may be times when school feels challenging due to friendships, workload or wellbeing. However, staying home can make these challenges harder to overcome.

We encourage students to seek support from trusted adults, teachers or wellbeing staff, as there is always someone ready to help them stay engaged and succeed.

Together, we can ensure students make the most of every opportunity—because every day counts.
