Your SRC Supports GEC to Prevent Bullying

Did you know that national statistics tell us that 1 in 4 young people experience bullying, in fact, bullying impacts over 2 million Australians every year. The consequences of being targeted by bullying behaviour are serious and that is why National Bullying Prevention Week aimed to raise awareness of bullying and its impact on individuals and communities. Bullying has a long-lasting effect on those who experience and witness it.

On Friday 16th August 2024 during National Bullying Prevention Week, Glen Eira College (GEC) showed their support in the fight against bullying by wearing anything blue. The school community raised $514.50 for Dolly’s Dream through gold coin donations. Dolly’s Dream is an organisation created by Kate and Tick Everett following the shattering loss of their 14-year-old daughter, Dolly, to suicide, after ongoing bullying. They provide education and direct support for young people and families who are impacted by bullying in order to prevent other families going through what they did.

Your SRC believes that we can reduce bullying together through our shared effort and collective actions. Thank you to all those who did the bit to raise awareness and make a change to prevent bullying.
