Sports Report

Beachside Athletics

On Monday 26th August we took a group of our students to the Beachside Athletics to compete for our school. There were some great results across all the events on the day. We had a bunch of students come first place in their events which will now give them the opportunity to compete at the Regional Finals in Term 4.

We had 2 students break new records on the day for their events. Congratulations to Kane Hijlkema and Angus Murrie for both breaking a new record for their 800m events.

We had 2 other students who were the age group champions on the day. Congratulations to Lucas Hijlkema and Seif El Shorbagy on this achievement.

Thank you to all the students for representing our school and a big thank you to the staff and students who volunteered their time to help on the day.

Year 8 Tennis Finals

Nayla, Sophie, Lola and Ella represented GEC at regionals. On their journey they had some wins against other bigger and meaner schools, and made the finals.

Unfortunately they did not go on to the state finals. Most importantly, their attitude and resolve to be fair and supportive of other students really shone through on the two tournaments. At the regionals all of the schools and their students played the game with a positive attitude.
