Book Week 

Book Week continues to be a highlight in the Junior School calendar each year, with students and teachers embracing the opportunity to dress as their favourite book characters. This year’s celebration certainly did not disappoint, with the Brigid Jones gymnasium filled with joy, music and an incredible array of creative costumes. A very special thank you to our wonderful Library staff member, Mrs Rachelle Kirk, who dedicates so much time and thought to planning Book Week and ensuring it is a creative, engaging and enjoyable experience for everyone, including the teachers!

Science

Specialist Science continues to be a much-loved subject across the Junior School, with students demonstrating strong enthusiasm and curiosity for scientific learning. National Science Week provided an excellent opportunity to extend this engagement through a range of hands-on, inquiry-based activities and experiments. 

This year’s program included experiences such as: marble painting, lava lamps, volcano eruptions, fossil making and crystal growing.  Our Science Specialist Teacher Ms Lauren Plunkett also curated a range of simple experiments and online resources for students to explore at home, further encouraging scientific curiosity and learning beyond the classroom. Our Year 6 students also enjoyed an incredible learning experience with the South Australian Forensic Police, gaining an insight into their fascinating work and the important role they play in our community. Students also thoroughly enjoyed an incursion from Nitro Nat!

Celebrating Ellie’s Book Week Achievement

During our Book Week celebrations, we are incredibly proud to celebrate Ellie (Year 6) and her outstanding achievement in the Symphony of Stories Prospect Library writing competition. With more than 80 applicants from across Adelaide, Ellie was awarded Runner-up for her exceptionally written short story.

Ellie’s writing was filled with emotion, creativity and spectacular writing devices that truly captured the reader’s imagination. Her wonderful achievement was recognised with a fabulous certificate and a book voucher.

This is a well-deserved award and an incredible achievement. Thank you for representing Loreto College and showcasing your amazing talents during Book Week.
