Intercol 2026: A Win for Wellbeing  

Intercol on Wednesday was a vibrant celebration of spirit, encouragement and pride, with loud and enthusiastic “LC” chants supporting our Senior School soccer and netball players as they competed for the 2026 shields against the girls of Mary MacKillop College. 

For our girls, representing Loreto always fosters a strong sense of identity and belonging. Seeing students proudly cheer one another on encourages participation, confidence and a healthy peer culture grounded in self-belief and support.  

As Assistant Principal for Wellbeing and Engagement, I value Intercol as a clear reflection of why our College calendar includes special events and opportunities that nurture connection. Preparing together, travelling together and cheering one another on all help build friendship and trust, which are all essential elements of wellbeing. On Wednesday, it did not matter whether you were a teacher, parent, Junior or Senior student, the only requirement was that you belonged to Loreto, and you were willing to show up and participate with ‘LC’ spirit.   

Opportunities like Intercol bring us together as a positive and supportive community, where girls can build meaningful connections beyond the usual demands of the classroom. 

Congratulations to all competitors, supporters, staff and families who contributed to such a memorable celebration of Loreto College spirit. One of our students’ posters proudly read, “Mary Ward would be proud,” and that sentiment certainly rings true.  

Loreto won the 2026 Intercol 4–0, but the greater victory was the sense of wellbeing, engagement, and community shared by all.
