A Shared Approach to Subject Selection

Thank you to all the families who attended our Subject Selection Evenings this term. It was wonderful to see students and families so engaged in the presentations and making the most of the opportunity to speak with our Learning Leaders at the subject information tables.

Students have shared how valuable these conversations were, with many confirming choices they were already considering, while others discovered subjects and possibilities they had not previously thought about.

Choosing subjects for the following year is an important decision, but it is also an opportunity for exploration. Particularly in the middle years, students are developing a stronger sense of who they are, what interests them, where they feel they belong and who they might like to become. Elective subjects can play an important role in this process, allowing students to follow their curiosity, build confidence and explore new possibilities.

As you guide your daughters through the process, we encourage you to consider electives that spark genuine interest, build on current strengths, and offer connections to possible futures - without feeling that a subject choice locks them into a particular career pathway.

Further information about the subject selection process, including Ms Scott’s presentation, is available at https://loretoconnect.loreto.sa.edu.au/homepage/8134/

Thank you again for joining us and for taking the time to explore the options alongside your daughters. We hope the evenings gave families a clearer sense of the opportunities ahead and plenty to talk about at home.
