Year 5 Highlight

Our Year 5 students have been bringing their learning about animals and habitats to life through an exciting Design Based Learning (DBL) project! Each student has chosen an animal that interests them and is working to design and create a miniature habitat that meets their animal’s needs. Students have been researching their chosen animal, exploring where it lives and discovering how its environment provides food, water, shelter and space. They have then used this knowledge to plan and design their very own habitat, ready to transform their ideas into a creative diorama for our upcoming Art Show!
Our classroom has become a hive of creativity, with students busy designing, building, painting, cutting, sculpting and problem-solving as they bring their habitats to life!
Through the DBL process, students have been encouraged to experiment with their ideas, make thoughtful design choices, overcome challenges and refine their creations along the way. From rainforests and oceans to deserts and Australian bushland, we are creating a wonderful collection of miniature animal worlds. We can't wait to see the finished dioramas proudly displayed at the Art Show and celebrate the creativity, persistence and learning of our amazing Year 5 students!
