Elite Volleyball Program
Nicole Laird - Project Officer
We are thrilled to welcome students to the Elite Volleyball Program for 2026, marking a significant milestone, for the first time in program history, we have curriculum classes spanning Years 7 through 12. This complete pathway from junior to senior years represents substantial growth in our program's development and maturity.
The continued enthusiasm for volleyball in our area is evident with two full classes each of Year 7 and Year 8 students, demonstrating the strong foundation we're building for the future of the EVP. We look forward to watching these cohorts develop alongside our established senior athletes throughout the year.
Leadership development is a major focus for EVP in 2026, with students taking active roles in program delivery. Our senior athletes will participate in "team coaching" alongside teachers and external coaches, working consistently with assigned cohorts throughout the year. This hands-on leadership experience develops their coaching skills while strengthening connections across year levels.
Additionally, our seniors will be running events throughout the year, furthering their development as well-rounded sports professionals. This approach ensures our experienced athletes are actively contributing to program culture while gaining valuable skills in leadership, communication, and event management.
Our two-day EVP camp provided an excellent start to the year. Day one focused on team building, culture investment, and inspiring presentations from Olympic silver medallist Taliqua Clancy and Inspire Health, who shared elite concepts around physiology and high-performance sport.
Day two took us to Sandstorm Beach Club, where our senior athletes took centre stage - running events and joining our juniors on court. This cross-year level interaction further instilled the legacy of leadership within our program while preparing all athletes for the upcoming Queensland Schools Cup. The camp exemplified what EVP culture is about with experienced athletes investing in the next generation while everyone pushes themselves to grow.
