你好 nǐ hǎo to our wonderful community!

This term in Visual Arts, students have been exploring themes of nature and insects through a variety of mixed media artworks.

Our Foundation students are completing their 'nature art' pieces, made from materials collected in the MPRPS environment and colourful flower petals. Their imagination and creativity have produced some wonderful artworks! Over the last few weeks of Term 2, students will continue to explore colour through printing and pattern work, creating both individual and collaborative art pieces inspired by the leaves of our native flora.

The students in grade 1/2 started by exploring the paper collage work of Eric Carle. They had a go at creating their own painted paper using texture and pattern. They used this paper to create their own collage insects inspired by Eric Carle's stories. We have begun exploring symmetry using some new painting techniques and continue to build their confidence using colour.

In Grades 3/4, students explored line and pattern when creating detailed insect illustrations created on transparency sheets, combined with abstract tissue paper backgrounds to investigate layering and colour effects. Students have now begun creating mixed media insect books using watercolour to showcase their illustrations

In Grades 5/6, students began the term by exploring line pattern and shape, creating metallic insect artworks. They have been using new watercolour techniques to create geodes, and continued their use of line, pattern and their understanding of contrast to produce some beautiful coloured geode artworks.
