Advance Class

Tree Planting

Tree Planting with the Year 9 Advance Class.

Our Year 9 Advance class got their  hands dirty (literally) helping out Talia and Peter from the Darebin Creek Management Committee. We spent the day planting native trees near Darebin Creek to help boost the local vegetation and give the wildlife a better home.

While we were there, we also learned some pretty cool facts about the mistletoe bird. Turns out this tiny bird has a huge job - it spreads mistletoe all over Australia in a very unique (and kind of messy) way. Let’s just say it involves eating the berries and… well… nature’s recycling system.

Overall, it was an awesome day of learning, teamwork, and making a difference for our environment right in our own backyard. Plus, we can now officially say we’ve planted a forest… well, at least the beginnings of one!
