Acting Principal's Report
A message from the Principal
The past two weeks have been filled with vibrant learning experiences, community celebrations, and opportunities for growth across our school.
Our school community came together for a Whole School Assembly in the stadium, themed Celebrating Our Community. This special event honoured the diverse individuals and stories that make our school unique. The assembly featured uplifting band performances, insightful student reports, and the presentation of awards for the Dante Alighieri poetry competition. The atmosphere was one of pride, unity and celebration.
Weeks 5 and 6 have offered students a rich blend of academic, wellbeing, and creative experiences that reflect the depth and diversity of learning at Reservoir High School. Year 10 students took part in the Teen Mental Health Toolkit Program, which provided valuable strategies for managing stress and encouraged open conversations about wellbeing-reinforcing our commitment to supporting the whole student and fostering a safe, inclusive environment.
Geography learning came to life through Year 7 Water Testing Excursions, where students explored water quality and environmental health in hands-on settings.
Students in the Advance program contributed to local sustainability efforts by planting along Darebin Creek, deepening their understanding of ecological responsibility. Outdoor Education students extended their environmental learning with a visit to the Western Treatment Plant, gaining insights into waste management and its impact on ecosystems. Creativity also took centre stage as student musicians performed at the Penola Battle of the Bands, showcasing their talent and school pride in a celebration of artistic expression.
Our students have continued to shine across a wide range of activities that celebrate creativity, leadership and community spirit. The Young Leaders to China Program offered a series of engaging incursions focused on leadership, global awareness and teamwork, helping students build confidence and broaden their perspectives through cultural exploration and collaboration.
Book Week brought colour and excitement to the school, with students and staff dressing in imaginative costumes and celebrating a shared love of reading through joyful activities. On the sporting front, students participated in Junior NMR Badminton, Year 8 Basketball and Reservoir Cup Futsal competitions, demonstrating not only athletic skill but also teamwork and school pride.
A special commendation goes to those who officiated matches during the Reservoir Cup, showing impressive leadership and responsibility. To close out Week 6, our school gathered for the annual Bruce Kingsbury Service-a reflective and meaningful tradition that honours courage, service and the values that underpin our community.
Reservoir High School continues to be a vibrant and dynamic place for students to thrive-not just in the classroom, but through a wide range of extracurricular activities that foster creativity, leadership, and connection. From music and sport to environmental action and cultural programs, there’s always something exciting happening, and we are proud of the many ways our students are engaging, growing, and contributing.
