Book Week next week!
Book Week is running next week from the 18th to 22nd of August. We will be celebrating with lots of different lunchtime activities in the Library including a quiz, staff vs student debate and of course the famous costume parade!
Make sure to check out our Instagram page @ths_library_ for more information.

Tech-Free Tuesdays, new books and popular board games
Once a fortnight, we have a Tech-Free Tuesday which means no devices in the Library. It’s an opportunity for students to unplug and enjoy a quieter, more relaxed space, maybe even picking up a book!
We have had lots of new books in, including The Thread That Connects Us by Ayaan Mohamud about two Somali girls, Halima and Safiya, navigating family and complicated relationships. It is described as “a story of shared blood and bad blood, endings and beginnings.” Other new additions include biographies of sports stars Liz Watson, Daniel Riccardo, Marcus Bontempelli and Mary Fowler.
Board games have been particularly popular this term (probably due to the chilly weather), and not just on our tech-free days. Students have been enjoying Uno, Connect Four, Guess Who - THS Edition, Cluedo and many more.
Staff Book Club
The Staff Book Club continues to be a fantastic event and something to look forward to in the calendar. Our latest read was Mornings in Jenin which was very powerful, informative and moving. It is such a privilege to come together with this lovely group of my colleagues and discuss books (and beyond!) whether it is in our official meetings or out and about in the staff room or corridors.
