2026 Regional NSW Snowsports Championships
The 2026 Regional NSW Snowsports Championships were held at Falls Creek during Week 2. Our modest team of 20 competitors, ranging from Year 1 to Year 11 competing across a variety of ski and snowboard disciplines, was a dominant force throughout the carnival, particularly against other schools whose teams are more than double the size of ours!
The carnival commenced in excellent conditions on Monday, with bright sunshine and fast-paced racing providing the perfect backdrop for the Amelia McGuinness Giant Slalom event.
Tuesday brought blizzard-like conditions that tested the resilience of competitors, officials and spectators alike. Strong winds, snowfall and reduced visibility created challenging racing conditions, with all participants demonstrating determination and perseverance.
Slightly milder weather returned on Wednesday for the Rider Cross event, although visibility remained poor and the snow conditions were slow. Our competitors showed their versatility on an adapted Rider Cross course that presented more like a ‘banked slalom’, something few were expecting due to the limited snow coverage available.
Thursday proved to be the highlight of the week. Fresh snowfall throughout the carnival combined with clear blue skies to create spectacular conditions for the moguls event. Our team rose to the challenge, tackling the course with style, skill and confidence, showcasing their hard work and commitment.
With the late arrival of snowfall this season, many competitors missed essential pre-event training opportunities and should be congratulated for putting Trinity on the podium with minimal on-snow preparation.

Congratulations to all competitors, especially our first-time participants, for their efforts throughout a memorable week of competition. The College also extends its thanks to the families who supported the event and volunteered as course officials during the carnival. Special thanks are extended to the Falls Creek Resort and the Snow Australia Interschools team for their work in delivering this local event.
If students can ski or snowboard making controlled turns and stop safely, they have the skills required to compete in this welcoming, ability-friendly carnival. We are particularly keen to rejuvenate participation in cross-country skiing and warmly welcome expressions of interest in this discipline.
Winter Biathlon - Falls Creek
On Friday 7 August, Trinity students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Winter Biathlon held at the Nordic Bowl, Falls Creek.
With perfect weather, fierce competition, excellent sportsmanship, and plenty of laughs, the event was a highlight of the snow season.
Following a similar program to previous years, students developed their cross-country skiing skills before practicing target shooting, relay changeovers, race starts, and course maneuvers. They then put these skills to the test in the relay-style heats and finals.
Congratulations to Markus Bartels and Oskar Clark (Year 9), who claimed gold in the male competition, and to all students who represented Trinity with determination, teamwork, and school spirit.
