Welcome to our new staff

We are delighted to welcome our new staff members to the team at Koonung.  Over the next couple of newsletters we hope to introduce our new staff members to the wider Koonung community.

Sonia Abdallah

I’m Sonia Abdallah. As a first-year teacher, I come equipped with a diversity of experiences from my academic background in civil engineering and my master's degree in teaching mathematics and science. While juggling my professional ambitions, I also take on the rewarding role of a mother to three teenagers. My decision to enter the field of teaching has been fuelled by a strong conviction in the significance of empowering young minds in promoting a better education. I am truly enthusiastic about creating a dynamic learning atmosphere that motivates and empowers students to pave their own paths towards a bright future. I’m excited to be part of the Koonung community.

Jaymee Allender

My name is Jaymee Allender and I am a Health, Physical Education and Food Technology teacher. I love sharing my passion and knowledge with students to promote healthy lifestyles and lifelong participation in physical activity. Outside of school, I love being active and creating yummy food for my family. I am excited to be a part of the Koonung community and look forward to building relationships and working with staff, students and families.

Luke Ewart

This is my first year of teaching and I’m thrilled to join the Koonung community. My methods are Health/PE and Business. Prior to starting my teaching course I studied Commerce and Sports Management and spent a few years working at a junior football league, which really sparked my passion for working with children and wanting to become a teacher. Outside of school I love playing/watching sport, heading down the coast and spending time with my dog Kobie!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone throughout the year.

Sarah Ryan

Hello everyone! I am excited to be joining Koonung, as a Humanities and English Teacher. Outside of the classroom, I have a love for travelling, getting to learn about new places and perspectives, and have lived and studied overseas in the USA and Finland. I also enjoy cycling (indoors and outdoors), and getting out to see live events, be it musicals, music concerts, or sports (GO SAINTS). I’m looking forward to getting to know the school community, and creating a learning space where curiosity can flourish.
