Our Learning - Weeks 9 and 10
As we come to the end of another wonderful term, the Year 3 teachers would like to thank all families for their ongoing support. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, positive attitudes, and learning growth shown by our students throughout Term 2. It has been a busy and exciting few weeks, with highlights including our fun-filled Pyjama Day and the much-anticipated Market Day. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday break and look forward to another fantastic term ahead.
English
- Students finished their novel study on our text Brindabella. They looked at what the characters actions tell us about their traits and reflected on what we learnt across the story, including the key messages of the text.
- Students learnt the meaning of prefixes super- and under- and how they change a base word.
Maths
- Students refreshed their memories of 'duration', 'o'clock' and 'half past'.
- Students learnt how to tell the time to the minute using both anologue and digital clocks.
- Students learnt how to identify and calculate the duration of events.
SEL
- Students are learning to understand rights and responsibilities and how they connect to respect.
Inquiry
- Students finalised their History unit, reflecting on changes in Australia over time and recognising the important events that shaped Australian history.
Events and Reminders
Home work - All children should now be in a good routine for completing homework. The homework consists of a fluency reading passage and times table practice.
Swimming - Year 3 students will be doing swimming on Wednesdays in Week 2, 3, 4 and 5 next term. Please make sure to check compass to pay, consent and get the information.
Healesville Sanctuary Excursion - Year 3 students will be going on an excursion to Healesville Sanctuary on Friday 7th August (Week 4). Please check compass for the information and to pay and consent.
