Principal's Message
Paul Hill: Acting Principal

I just wanted to acknowledge the work of the leadership team and Paul Hill during my recent Long Service Leave. I had the most wonderful time overseas visiting Japan again and then South Korea and Singapore, and it was affirming to know the school was in great hands under Paul Hill's leadership. I have enjoyed getting back into routine this week and reconnecting with all of our students, staff and families.
I am aware that Paul Hill provided a staffing update in the last newsletter, however I would also like to provide further information in this area.
A huge congratulations to Ms Jenny Elkina-Wills who is expecting her first baby later this year. Ms Elkina-Wills commences maternity leave early Term 3 and we welcome Lorraine Huang to the Hillsmeade team as teacher of 6E.
We have also recently appointed four new Education Support Staff positions and welcome Fiona Porteous, Matt McAuliffe, Tanycia Tait and Jack McGuffie officially to the team commencing Term 3.
Learn more about our new staff in coming pages.
In Term 3 you will hear more about our major fundraiser that we hold every two years. The event itself will be in Term 4 on Friday 13th November, however fundraising information will be provided throughout Term 3. Stay tuned!!
Wowsers!! What a big day it was on Thursday as we held our annual Year 6 Market Day. The festive feel and amazing treats, items and activities on offer were outstanding. The year 6 students loved selling their products and raising money that would go towards helping finance their year 6 end of year excursion. This day followed a lot of learning opportunities in the classroom around the topic of Economics and was supported by an excursion to Dandenong Market. A truly engaging Integrated unit for our students to be immersed in. A big thank you to the year 6 teachers but also to all families that supported their children in preparation for such a successful day!!
Wishing all of our Hillsmeade community a terrific break over the next two weeks and we look forward to seeing you all day one Term 3 on Monday 13th July.
