In the blink of an eye...
Year 7 Reflections

Alison Sanza
Year 7N Home Group
As part of the Year 7 Home Group program, students were asked to think about the emotions they experienced during their first year of high school.
The discussion was lively; students mentioned the balance of excitement and trepidation in the first days and how they very quickly gave way to an even greater range of emotions.
Friendships made, and happiness and fun featured heavily, but was tempered also with the anxiety of assessment tasks, new learning and deadlines.
Here are some of their reflections.

Looking back at year 7 …and forward to the future
by Nova Giles 7U
Yesterday, tomorrow, but never right now
Barely a glance when tomorrow comes ‘round
For we focus our eyes onto the unknown
The workload tomorrow
Its joys and its sorrow
But never this day,
It’s present,
It’s now.
So we look past over weeks, thinking how?
As all those tomorrows fade into the past
And somehow those memories made never last
For every day
We crane our necks
For tomorrow’s tomorrow’s tomorrow and the next.

Year 7
I originally thought Year 7, my first year of high school, would be an extremely slow nd exhausting year. But, now writing this piece I realise it is already the last term of my first year in high school! I have learned new things, made life skills and have had so, so many happy and hilarious memories.
Day after day, more thoughts reach my mind on my plans for when school is over [this year], which makes me realize that the end is coming. It has been very fun and I enjoyed every second that passed.
