The BSC Junior MasterChef Challenge was once again a huge success this year, bringing together our talented junior chefs to enjoy a session of creativity, teamwork, and delicious competition.

Programs like Junior MasterChef offer far more than just a fun cooking competition — they provide rich, hands-on learning experiences that build creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and real-world skills. Students learn to plan, manage time, and take pride in producing something tangible and meaningful.

Opportunities like these are made possible through the generous support of our school community, whose voluntary contributions help to sustain engaging, high-quality programs that bring learning to life for our students.

Our junior students really rose to the occasion this year, producing an impressive array of dishes that showcased imagination, skill, and flair well beyond their years. From savoury mains to beautifully presented desserts, the variety and quality of the food on display were nothing short of outstanding. And while they were taking their tasks very seriously,  they still took time to enjoy the event - click on the photos to see how much fun they had!

Judges  Sally Goss, Angelina Koussoulas and Shane Gemmola, had the very difficult (but very tasty!) task of selecting the winners from such a strong field. They took great care in assessing each dish and provided thoughtful, constructive feedback to every contestant — a valuable learning experience for all involved.

It was also wonderful to see so many staff members stopping by the Food Hub throughout the competition to cheer on our budding chefs and admire their creations. The atmosphere was full of excitement, delicious aromas, and plenty of friendly competition!

Congratulations to first placed Joe Symonds and Oscar Watson (Year 9),  second placed Eliza Dodd and Matilda Hagarty (Year 8)and third placed Ned Treasure and Otis Echols  (Year 8),  and to all the student teams who gave it their very best on the day!
