This term, our Year 8 students took part in a Water Safety Day run by Surf Life Saving Victoria.
The program gave students a valuable opportunity to build their confidence, knowledge, and awareness when in and around aquatic environments. Click on the photos to enlarge.

Throughout the day, students learned about general water safety, how to identify hazards such as rip currents, and how to respond in an emergency using the DRSABCD model. They also practised survival and rescue strategies, giving them the skills to make safe and informed decisions in real-life situations.

The hands-on activities and guidance from experienced surf lifesavers helped students understand the importance of teamwork, staying calm under pressure, and recognising their own limits when near water. Many students reflected that they now feel more prepared to enjoy Victoria’s beaches and waterways safely and responsibly.
It was a fantastic and educational day that reinforced the importance of water safety and the role we all play in keeping ourselves and others safe in aquatic environments.
