Sustainability in Action at Tiddalik
Next week will be a big one for sustainability at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College, with two significant events focused on caring for our environment and strengthening our connection to “Tiddalik,” the school’s wetlands area.
On Thursday, 13th November, our VCE VM students will participate in Community Service Day, dedicating their efforts to tidying up Nalinggu Trail and Tiddalik. Their work will focus on removing invasive weed species such as Flax Broom and preparing the area ahead of the fire season.
Then, on Friday, 14th November, the Sustainability Action Group will lead Sustainability Day, a full day of hands-on activities promoting sustainable practices across the school. Students will spend time weeding, mulching, and maintaining the Tiddalik wetlands, as well as monitoring the activity of frogs and other animals in the area. They’ll also complete an audit of the school’s paper recycling program to ensure all classrooms are recycling effectively.
Both days highlight our commitment to respecting the environment, promoting growth, and strengthening our connection to the natural spaces that make our school community unique.
