Year 7 Report

Inside the Year 7 Classroom

Digital Technology

In Term 4, Year 7 Digital Technology students have been immersed in an exciting, hands-on unit that explores robotics and Coding. Throughout the term, students have had the opportunity to work with a range of robots available at the College, including Ozobots, Spheros, and Spike Lego. They have learned to code in a variety of ways — from using colour-coded markers to program movement paths for Ozobots, to experimenting with block-based coding platforms to control the actions and behaviours of their robots.

This unit has encouraged students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and apply problem-solving skills as they designed and tested their robotic creations. It has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm as they troubleshoot challenges, refine their coding, and celebrate their successes when their robots perform as intended. The Robotics unit has not only introduced students to key concepts in technology and engineering but has also fostered creativity, teamwork, and resilience in the learning process.

Physical Education

In Term 4, all Year 7 students have begun a unit focused on fitness components and their importance in maintaining an active lifestyle and skill development. During Health lessons, students have been exploring each of the key fitness components in depth — such as aerobic power, muscular power, flexibility, agility, and coordination — learning how these contribute to overall physical performance and wellbeing.

In their practical sessions, students have been participating in a variety of fitness tests and activities designed to assess and apply their understanding of these components. Through hands-on experiences, they have been able to identify their personal strengths and areas for improvement. This unit has highlighted the value of consistent effort, teamwork, and self-motivation in achieving fitness success.
