Your Move

The Wellbeing and Safety Student Leadership Ministry is excited to announce that St Helena's have officially joined the Your Move program. The Your Move program is a fantastic initiative that encourages students and families to use active transport to get to and from school.
Active travel includes walking, riding, scooting, or skating, and it’s one of the simplest ways to build healthy habits into everyday routines. By choosing active transport, students arrive at school feeling more energised, focused, and ready to learn. Research consistently shows that even short bursts of physical activity can improve:
Concentration and classroom engagement
Mood and emotional wellbeing
Physical fitness and confidence
Environmental awareness and responsibility
What if we live too far from school?
Not every family lives close enough to walk or ride the whole way. You can still take part in Your Move by trying a Park & Walk or Park & Ride option. These small changes still give students the benefits of active travel while keeping mornings manageable for families.
Here are some easy alternatives:
Park at Ellenbrook IGA
Families can park at IGA Ellenbrook and walk, ride, or scoot the short distance to school. It’s safe, convenient, and a great way to add movement into the morning.
Park on the other side of Woodlake Lake
Another option is to park near Woodlake Lake and enjoy a peaceful walk or ride around the lake before heading to school. It’s a beautiful way to start the day and helps reduce congestion in the school carpark and the Fortescue cul-de-sac.
Park across Woodlake Oval
The oval provides a great space for families to run or walk through on their way to or from school and helps beat the traffic on Fortescue Place. The shady trees also provide Parents/Caregivers a place to wait and meet their children at the end of the school day.
By participating in the Your Move program, St Helena’s is working toward helping create safer, less congested roads around our school, healthier, happier students, a more connected school community and showing Care for the Earth by reducing our environmental impact.
Every small step (literally!) makes a difference.
We look forward to seeing our students and families getting active, having fun, and embracing the Your Move spirit as we work together to build healthy habits for life.
