Grade 5/6 PE News
Over the past few weeks, our Grade 5 and 6 students have been actively preparing for the upcoming Athletics Carnival during their Physical Education lessons. Students have been exploring different athletic events while developing their skills, confidence, and understanding of track and field disciplines.
As part of our learning, students have been watching Olympic highlights to observe professional athletes in action and to better understand technique, rules, and sportsmanship. They have been focusing on a range of jumping events, including the Long Jump and Triple Jump, where they have practised correct take-off techniques, landing safely, and improving their overall coordination and performance.
It has been fantastic to see the level of enthusiasm and effort displayed by students each lesson. Many students have shown excellent encouragement towards their peers, demonstrating teamwork, respect, and a willingness to challenge themselves while trying new skills. Their positive attitudes and persistence have been a highlight of our sessions so far.
This week, students will shift their focus to Shot Put, followed by Discus and relay events. These activities will allow students to continue developing strength, technique, and collaboration skills as they work together in preparation for competition-style events.
We are looking forward to seeing students apply what they have learned at the Athletics Carnival on Thursday, 19th March 2026. We encourage all students to continue practising their skills, showing great sportsmanship, and supporting one another as we count down to this exciting whole-school event.
