Relay for Life

Throughout 2026, Year 11 students have demonstrated their commitment to supporting the Cancer Council through their Relay for Life fundraising efforts. Throughout the year, students have worked collaboratively as a cohort and individually to raise both funds and awareness through a variety of initiatives, including barbecues and bake sales. One of the highlights was the Relay for Life Charity Evening, which raised over $6,000. The evening provided an opportunity to contextualise the students efforts, particularly after hearing from Mrs Sally Disher and Mrs Sue James, who shared their personal experiences with the detrimental impacts of cancer.
We were incredibly proud to see our team captain, Mrs Davina Gibb, recognised with a Certificate of Appreciation for her outstanding contribution to Relay For Life at Trinity.
Through her dedication and leadership, Davina has embedded Relay For Life into the Year 11 curriculum, inspiring the next generation of advocates and fundraisers. Over the past four years, Team Trinity has raised almost $83,000, with a record-breaking 76 registered Relayers this year - a wonderful reflection of the community spirit Davina has helped foster. On a personal level, Davina has also raised almost $25,000 over the past four years. An amazing achievement!
The concluding Border Relay for Life event brought the school community together with a shared goal to raise funds and awareness for vital cancer research.
For some, participation was about supporting such an important cause, while for others, every lap held a deeply personal significance, reflecting the ways in which cancer had impacted their lives and the lives of those they love.
Over the year, the College community has raised approximately $31,500, which is a phenomenal effort. It is through the College’s integrity, compassion and commitment to supporting the wider community that the Relay for Life initiative has continued to strive once again. The Year 11 cohort and wider school community are incredibly proud of what has been achieved and extend their thanks to everyone who has donated, volunteered or supported the fundraising initiatives throughout the year. Together, these efforts demonstrate the power of a community united by a shared purpose and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
