THURSDAY 30 APRIL 2026 

LUNCHTIME CREATE CLUB: ARTS FESTIVAL PREPARATION || Behind the scenes at our Pop Up Create Club. Students have been busy glazing ceramic pieces, each of which will become part of a larger collaborative installation for the upcoming Arts Festival, celebrating creativity, connection and the idea that it takes a community to raise a child.

 

We’re so proud of our students’ creativity, teamwork and willingness to contribute to something special for our community. Stay tuned to see the finished Ceramic Village come to life!

ROCK OF AGES: MEET THE CAST || Our 2026 College Production is underway, and we look forward to introducing the cast of Rock of Ages: Teen Edition over the coming weeks.

 

First up are Drew Boley (Xico Sassman), Sherrie Christian (Skye Valori) and Stacee Jaxx (Oliver Prince) — three central characters in this high-energy production.

VCE AND CAREERS EXPO 2026 || Last week, our Year 12 students attended the VCE and Careers Expo at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, exploring a range of future pathways. Students engaged with exhibitors, attended seminars and gathered valuable insights for their next steps.

ACMI TOP SCREEN EXCURSION || Our Year 11 Media students attended Top Screen today, viewing outstanding VCE Media films as part of the Season of Excellence. Students also heard from the filmmakers and explored their folios, gaining valuable insight and inspiration for their own Media planning and SACs.

WEDNESDAY 6 MAY 2026

OPEN NIGHT || Thank you to everyone who contributed to our 2026 Open Night, including those who led our Welcome and Acknowledgement of Country, our School Council President, College Captains and Principal.

 

We also thank our Instrumental Music students for their performances, and the many students, staff and parent volunteers who supported tours and experiences throughout the evening, bringing the college to life for prospective families.

 

It was great to hear such positive feedback about our students, staff and the college. Thank you to the many families who joined us to explore The Beaumaris Way.

YEAR 9 CROSS COUNTRY || It was Year 9’s turn to take on the cross country course today. A great effort from all students, with strong participation across the 3km track. We wish all qualifying students the very best of luck for the Division event on 27 May.

INTERMEDIATE ROUND ROBIN - AFL DIVISION CHAMPIONS || Despite the cold and wet conditions, our Intermediate teams showed great resilience and sportsmanship throughout today’s Round Robin competition. Students competed in mixed badminton, girls netball, boys soccer and boys AFL, representing the college with pride.

 

A special congratulations to our boys AFL team, who were crowned Division Champions on home ground. Our boys A badminton team finished 2nd, our girls netball team placed 3rd, while the boys soccer team were narrowly defeated in a semi-final penalty shootout.

 

Well done to all students involved for their effort and teamwork throughout the day.

FRIDAY 8 MAY 2026 

FAB FABRICS & PRODUCT DESIGN || A busy week of sustainable design in action, with our students out and about sourcing pre-loved materials to transform into new creations.

 

On Wednesday, our Year 9 & 10 Fab Fabrics students explored op shops to gather garments they will rework through a series of design ideas and refinements. Today, our Year 11 Product Design & Technologies students did the same as part of their Unit 1 project, focusing on upcycling and reducing waste.

 

Across both experiences, students are engaging in real-world design challenges and learning how thoughtful, ethical design can give new life to existing materials.

TUESDAY 12 MAY 2026

GOAL IN ACTION || Yesterday’s GOAL sessions focused on connection, belonging and supporting students through a range of shared experiences and activities across the year levels. Our Year 10 students took part in the much-loved ‘Snap Cup’ tradition, inspired by Legally Blonde. Students anonymously wrote positive compliments and messages of appreciation for one another, which were then read aloud to the year level.

 

Meanwhile, our Year 8 Beckett and Ricketts students headed off campus with their GOAL mentors for a group walk and lunch. Beckett students visited the Concourse, while Ricketts students ventured to Black Rock.

 

Our Year 9 students explored future pathways through VCE subject planning activities, alongside team building challenges within their GOAL groups.

CELEBRATING NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK || As part of National Careers Week (11–17 May), we recognise the important work of our Careers and Pathways Team: Mr Jack Crameri, Ms Stephanie Grant and Ms Jody McCarthy. Through individual support, career education and pathway guidance, the team helps students explore their strengths, interests and future opportunities.

 

From Career Action Plans and Morrisby profiling, to work experience, VTAC enrolment, USI creation and understanding ATAR and post-school pathways, students are supported to make informed decisions about their future throughout their time at Beaumaris Secondary College.

CERAMIC VILLAGE IN THE MAKING || Clay, colour and creativity coming together behind the scenes at lunchtime as students continue preparing pieces for our upcoming Arts Festival installation. Each ceramic creation will form part of a collaborative village celebrating creativity, connection and the idea that it takes a community to raise a child. We can’t wait to see the final installation come to life!

TOP DESIGNS EXHIBITION || Our VCE Vis Comm students explored Top Designs 2026 exhibition today, viewing outstanding VCE and VET design work as part of the Season of Excellence. FRESH PASTA MAKING IN YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT || Our Year 9 & 10 You Are What You Eat students rolled up their sleeves today for a hands-on fresh pasta making lesson. From preparing and rolling the dough to cutting their own pasta, students explored the techniques behind making pasta from scratch.

THURSDAY 14 MAY 2026

BAYSIDE YOUTH SUMMIT || Beaumaris Secondary College was proud to host the Bayside Youth Summit today, welcoming students across Years 7–12 alongside peers from neighbouring schools. Throughout the day, students took part in interactive workshops delivered by Youth Leadership Academy Australia, explored key issues facing young people and collaborated on ideas to create positive change in the community through a range of leadership-focused activities and discussions. Guests were also welcomed on arrival with performances from our Junior and Senior Rock Bands.

 

We were pleased to welcome Cr Debbie Taylor-Haynes (Mayor of Bayside) and Matthew Cripps (CEO, Bayside City Council), who attended the Summit and presented to students as part of the program.

 

The Summit provided a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen their leadership skills, connect with students from other schools and share their perspectives on important community issues.
