Battle of the Bands
We also have the Battle of the Bands school competition fast approaching on Monday 25 May, Week 6. This is an annual school event where any student/students can enter to perform in front of the whole school! It is a great opportunity to have some fun with friends and showcase your skills.
Entries for Battle of the Bands have now closed through the form on Teams. However, if you have a late entry, you are still welcome to sign up by contacting either me, (Will Bowles) or Miss Saunders.

Production Update
Our College Production of Rock of Ages is swiftly taking shape. At long last, the cast has been able to put some songs and scenes on their feet for the first time. Slowly, we are putting the different pieces of the show together; learning our lines and blocking, dancing and singing, creating our characters and getting a better view of the shape, pacing and idea of the show. With rehearsals on Monday and Thursday afterschool, and Tuesday and Thursday at lunch, we are speeding through the first act. It’s definitely a challenge, but one the cast and I are ready to face head-on.

Snapshot in the City
Our Year 9 & 10 Snapshot students explored the city today, capturing photos at key landmarks and tourist locations to use in their PBL. These images will form part of tourism campaign materials developed back in the classroom.

VCE Media Excursions
On Wednesday, The Unit 1& 2 and 3 & 4 Media classes met up at Flinders Street Station and headed to the NGV for a walkthrough and exhibit viewing. After the tour, we made our way to Melbourne Central to have a lunch break and look around before heading to the Melbourne Museum, where we attended a Top Designs forum and participated in a Q&A panel, learning many new things! We ended the excursion with a folio viewing, gaining insights from previous designers. From there, we were able to explore the rest of the museum before making our own way home, ending the exciting day.

Last Tuesday, our wonderful VCE Media students went into the city to view ACMI’s Top-Screen presentation, a screening of the top 15 Media Unit 4 short films in the state. Over the course of the day, the students also got to partake in a scavenger hunt-style activity, using clues to find their way through the CBD to different locations to take photos with different landmarks. When we arrived at ACMI, we got to view ACMI’s “The Story of the Motion Picture” exhibition, featuring some new pieces of modern Australian movie history, including costumes from Netflix’s ‘Heartbreak High’ and some extraordinary clay animation figures from Adam Elliot’s ‘Memoir of a Snail.” While watching the student films, we were encouraged to think of ideas for our own short films and consider what did and didn’t work in these films. Overall, it was a great day for everyone involved.
