Join Kingston Youth Services and Bayside Youth Services for an important Parent Information Night focused on child safety and awareness in today’s world.

Presented by former Detective Senior Constable and child safety advocate Kristi McVee, this session will provide parents and carers with a clear understanding of the real risks young people face, along with practical tools to help protect and support their children.

Drawing on her extensive frontline experience, Kristi delivers a powerful and honest presentation that empowers adults to take action with confidence.

Parents and carers will gain:

  • a deeper understanding of current risks facing children and young people
  • practical strategies to recognise warning signs and respond effectively
  • tools to support open conversations and build safer environments at home and in the community.

This free online session is designed for parents and carers of children aged 8 to 16. We also welcome professionals and community members who work with or support young people. Bookings are essential.

Have a question or topic? Email sleveque@bayside.vic.gov.au when registering, and we will share it with Kristi ahead of the session.

In Term 2, Beaumaris Secondary College will recommence our partnership with Foodbank Victoria’s School Breakfast Clubs Program and commence providing lunch provisions for identified students in need. These will be stored at the front office.

Foodbank Victoria, in partnership with the Victorian Government, delivers the School Breakfast Clubs Program in government schools across Victoria.

  • The Lunch Program supports students who may not have access to a sufficient or nutritious lunch. Providing lunch items at school enables students in need to concentrate and participate effectively in the school day.
  • The Home Food Packs Program supports students who may not have enough food or access to nutritious food at home. Home Food Packs can be provided throughout the school term or school holidays.

If your child is in need of support, please speak with your child’s GOAL Mentor or front office staff for further information.

FREE Professional Coaching Sessions for Parents/Carers of Teens 12–18yo

Free resources for families of adolescents aged 10 to 14 years

The Department of Education has launched an Easing into adolescence webpage for families of students aged 10 to 14 (Grade 5 to Year 8).

The webpage has information and strategies you can use to help ease your child into adolescence and secondary school. These include:

  • a guide to emotion coaching. Staff from The University of Melbourne’s Tuning in to Teens Kids program developed the guidance.
  • how to support your adolescent with their studies and more generally. Parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller helped develop this resource.

Subtitles for videos by The University of Melbourne on the webpage are available in 10 languages. You can select your preferred language on the translations page.

For questions about these resources, contact the Strategic Partnerships, Transitions and Student Voice team. You can email them at Secondary.School.Transition@education.vic.gov.au.
