Health and Physical Education

Foundation

In Foundation, students have been focusing on understanding and following simple rules during Physical Education lessons. They have been practising lining up appropriately, taking turns, and demonstrating patience while waiting for their opportunity to participate. These foundational behaviours are essential in helping students feel safe, organised, and ready to learn, while also building positive habits for future team activities.

They have been applying the fundamental movement skills they have been practising, such as running, passing, and spatial awareness, in fun and engaging activities. It has been fantastic to see students working together, supporting their teammates, and building confidence in a team environment.

It has been great to see students improving their coordination and becoming more confident in their ability to participate in structured games.

Year 3

Year 3 students have been focusing on chest passing and ball bouncing skills, which they have incorporated into team activities, including a game of basketball. Students have been learning how to control the ball, pass accurately, and move effectively around the court. Their teamwork and willingness to apply new skills in a game setting has been very pleasing to see.

Year 4

In Year 4, students have been playing a game called mat ball, where they worked collaboratively to move the ball down the court to a teammate standing in a hula hoop. This activity encouraged communication, teamwork, and strategic thinking, as students had to work together to create scoring opportunities. It has been fantastic to see students supporting one another and developing a strong sense of teamwork. We also practised catching and working as a team in games such as cone chaos!
