Learning Pedagogy and Innovation
Mrs Laura Higgins- Director of Learning Pedagogy and Innovation
We would like to congratulate our Year 7 and Year 9 students on successfully completing this year’s NAPLAN assessments. We are very proud of the positive way students approached the testing, demonstrating resilience and focus. This was particularly commendable given the disruptions experienced on the first day of testing, which were quickly resolved. Students showed great adaptability and should be recognised for their efforts.
Our Year 12 students have also been actively strengthening their learning skills, recently participating in a teacher-led session focused on effective study techniques. These sessions are designed to support students in developing strong, independent study habits as they prepare for their final year of schooling.
We encourage all students—particularly those in the senior years—to make the most of their study periods at school and to continue consolidating their learning at home. Establishing consistent study routines is key to building confidence and achieving success.
As a guide, we recommend the following daily homework and study durations:
Year 7: 30 minutes
Year 8: 45 minutes
Year 9: 60 minutes
Year 10: 90 minutes
Year 11: 120–150 minutes
Year 12: 150–180 minutes
These guidelines are designed to help students balance their workload and develop effective study habits over time.
Thank you for your continued support in encouraging positive learning routines at home.
