e-Scooter and e-Bike Safety
Victoria Police and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) are raising awareness of new regulations regarding the usage of electric powered scooters (e-scooters) in Victoria and enforcement.
- In Victoria, it is illegal for individuals under 16 to ride e-scooters or electric bikes (e-bikes).
New Regulations that came into effect in October last year govern e-scooter use on Victorian roads. These rules include substantial penalties for:
Underage riding
Speeding
Riding without a helmet
Riding on footpaths
Carrying passengers
- Similar existing regulations also apply to usage of e-bikes
- Victoria Police have advised that there will be strict enforcement of the e-scooter and e-bike regulations. Underage riders and riders who breach the regulations will face substantial fines.
- Parents are being encouraged to have meaningful discussions with their children regarding these regulations and the importance of adhering to safety practices while using e-scooters or e-bikes.
- Additional information is available on the Transport Victoria website: https://transport.vic.gov.au/road-and-active-transport/active-transport/e-scooter-road-rules

Cell-ebrating Science: Year 8’s Tasty Take on Cells
Our Year 8 students recently completed a creative Cells Project, demonstrating their understanding of cell structures and organelles in a variety of ways.
The standout (and most popular!) format was cake, with many students creating impressive edible models of plant and animal cells. These designs cleverly represented organelles and their functions, combining creativity with strong scientific understanding.
The quality of work was excellent, with students showing pride in their learning and confidently using scientific language. The photos highlight just a sample of the fantastic work produced—well done to all students!
Year 9 Photography
I want to celebrate some of the Year 9 photography classes' work this term!
The art and design team has hit the ground running, engaging in critical analysis, higher-order thinking, and metacognition through the design process to generate creative responses.
Pictured are some examples of year 9 photography work exploring compositional skills. Students are also exploring the theme of identity by analysing the work of well-known Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander photographers. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with students in term 2. Well done so far, everyone!
