Nossal High School Senior Girls Table Tennis State Final Winners 2026!
On Wednesday 12 August the Nossal High School Senior Girls Table Tennis team played a round robin against quality teams from regional and metropolitan Victoria. The team arrived at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) with competitive energy and an optimistic attitude ready to get into the upcoming matches. With the assistance of amazing Year 9's joining our team and Trevin Tirikawala as an excellent mentor and coach, the team was a bit nervous at the start, but once the ball got rolling, it felt like we were in the zone.
A massive shoutout to Shrinika, Angie, Parisa, Sayu, Sara and Saina, alongside Yunaizah and Amra for being such an amazing team to play with over many years!
Throughout the games, the girls went for slice serves and wonderful winners to first finish in the pool, winning each of the three round robin matches played against Bendigo Senior Secondary College, Grovedale College and Mernda Hills Christian College.
We were excited and nervous to progress through to the semi-finals where we played Brentwood Secondary College, who had finished Runners-Up at the Senior Girls Table Tennis State Final the previous year. We were able to progress through and make the final to verse Glen Waverley Secondary College (Who are regular winners in all year levels of Table Tennis from Year 7 up), so we knew it was going to be very difficult. It all came down to this! As the games went on, we had victories and some very close losses which meant that we finished with three match wins each, but decisively we were able to win on sets overall (three matches each, thirteen sets to nine).
We are so happy and proud of ourselves for winning state table tennis after years of making it to state, it felt very fitting that we overcame the grand final loss from two years ago to defeat those same players this year. We would like to thank M.r Armistead for tirelessly believing in us and training us for this moment and being a major part of the reason why we were successful. We would also like to thank the boys' team for giving up so much of their time to help us by having training sessions at lunch time before Region and State and especially to Trevin who was there at state to help us! Go Nossal!
