Year Six Leading the Way

Filling Our Hearts with Goodness
Last Friday, our Year 6 students attended Mass, where the Gospel reading from Luke 11:15-26 invited us to reflect on Jesus’ teaching about Beelzebul and the importance of not leaving an empty house.
Jesus tells the story of a house that has been swept clean but left empty. When the unclean spirit returns, it finds the house unoccupied and brings others with it, leaving the house worse off than before.
This message resonated deeply with our students, prompting an important reflection on the choices we make each day. It is not enough to simply stop bad habits, apologise for our wrong choices or avoid doing the wrong thing. We also need to actively choose what is good.
Our Year 6 students were reminded that following Jesus is about more than avoiding what is wrong, it is about actively choosing to do what is right.
It is not enough to simply stop being unkind, we need to choose kindness. It is not enough to stop hurting others, we need to show compassion. And it is not enough to apologise for our mistakes, we need to take positive steps to make things right.
