Year Four and so much More

This term, Year 4 has been enjoying the class novel Leo and Ralph by award-winning Australian author and illustrator Peter Carnavas. Peter has contributed to more than 20 books, many of which are picture storybooks. Leo and Ralph, however, is his fourth chapter book and follows the adventures of Leo and his imaginary alien friend, Ralph.
Imagination is such an important life skill. When we are young, we have an abundance of imagination, but as we grow older, many of us can lose touch with this wonderful ability. In class, we encouraged our students to embrace their imagination and design their very own alien. They were asked to give their alien a name and describe not only its physical features, but also its personality and characteristics. It was wonderful to see the creativity and originality that came to life through this activity!
