During Friday 13 June – Week 8, the Year 10 cohort took their first step towards future planning by attending The Gap SHS Careers Expo. During the morning session students had the opportunity to engage with Industry Leaders from a range of career pathways. Some of these included: Defence, Allied Health, Law, Engineering, Medicine, Trades, IT Services, Accounting & Consultancy and Real Estate. Our students were very engaged throughout, and our presenters were thoroughly impressed with the quality of questions our young people were asking.

In the afternoon our Year 10s attended the Brisbane Careers & Employment Expo at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in Southbank. Students had the opportunity to engage with over 160 different stalls and view practical demonstrations of a range of trades, in conjunction with the Worldskills Australia National Championships.

The next steps for our students over the coming weeks in the lead up to their SET-Plan meetings is using the information they have gathered over the Careers Expo to formulate their plans through their APP Careers unit currently underway.
