Year 7 & 8
As we pass the halfway point of this term, I’d like to congratulate all students on their achievements so far – from the various awards given at assemblies to those involved in the school production or participating in the various faculty weeks’ events.
Throughout this term several fantastic events have been/will be running:
Arts Week - 27th to 31st July – encouraged all students and staff to ‘create everyday’ with many lunchtime activities including: Badge Making, Henna, Beading, Mini Canvas Painting and the Addams Family Showcase.
Science Week – 17th to 21st August – The Seeds of Science, which featured a variety of staff and student activities and competitions, such as: Grow your own Chia pet, Science Escape Room, a ‘Who dun it?’ Mystery, Grow a crystal garden and SCInema film festival.
Thank you to the Year 10 to 12 STEM captains for their assistance and announcements of the events and competition winners.
Book Week – 24th to 28th August – Symphony of Stories, which will be celebrated with a variety of activities in the college library and will include the famous dress-up competition.
The schedule of events will be:
Monday: Quiz
Tuesday: Blackout Poetry
Wednesday: Bookmark Making
Thursday: Book Week Dress-Up Day and Competition
Friday: Movie in the Library
I’d like to thank all parents, guardians and carers who attended the Learning Conferences in Week 5 – it was fantastic to see the amount of engagement and support our students have. As a follow-up to the conferences, this term’s reporting cycle will be in the form of Progress Reports, assessing students against a variety of work habits.
Finally, I’d like to welcome Mr Simpson back into the Assistant Principal role and thank Mr Spatharis for looking after the Junior Subschool, for the first six weeks of this term.
