It has been another busy few weeks for our Year 9 and 10 students, with subject selections, course counselling, excursions, sport and preparations for the upcoming Year 9 Tasmania Camp all underway.

Subject Selection and Course Counselling

Our Year 9 and 10 students have recently been making some important decisions about their learning programs for 2027.

Year 10 into 11 Course Counselling and subject selection is now complete. 

Thank you to our students and families for engaging with the process, and particularly to the many staff who worked as course counsellors, prepared resources and supported students to make informed choices about VCE, VCE VM, VET and their individual pathways.

Year 9 students have also been completing their subject selections as they begin planning their Year 10 programs. These choices are an important opportunity for students to consider their interests, strengths and future pathways while continuing to build a broad and balanced program of study.

Year 9 Morrisby Testing

Our Year 9 students will also be participating in Morrisby testing, which is an important part of their career and pathway planning. The Morrisby assessment helps students better understand their individual strengths, interests, aptitudes and preferences and provides personalised information about possible future study, training and career pathways. The results are not about determining a single career for students but rather giving them useful information to begin exploring their options and making more informed choices as they move towards their senior years.

Year 10 Motion and Energy Excursion

Year 10 students recently took part in the Motion and Energy Excursion, providing an opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom and see scientific concepts in action.

Experiences such as these help students connect classroom learning with practical applications and provide a different way to explore and consolidate the concepts they have been studying. Thank you to the staff involved in organising and supervising the excursion and to our students for representing the College.

Year 9 & 10 Table Tennis

Our Year 9 and 10 students have also had the opportunity to represent the College in table tennis. Congratulations to all students who participated and represented Lalor Secondary College.

Interschool sport provides students with an opportunity not only to compete, but also to develop teamwork, resilience and connections with their peers. Thank you to the staff who make these opportunities possible.

Year 9 Tasmania Camp – 31 August – 4th September

Excitement is building for our Year 9 Tasmania Camp, with students departing on Monday 31 August.

The camp is a fantastic opportunity for students to experience learning outside the classroom, develop their independence and strengthen relationships with their peers and staff. We know a considerable amount of organisation goes into an interstate camp, and we thank the staff involved in planning the experience as well as families for their support in preparing students for the trip.

We wish everyone travelling a safe and enjoyable camp and look forward to hearing about their adventures when they return.

Uniform Reminder

A reminder to students and families that casual clothing items are not permitted as part of the College uniform.

Students are expected to arrive at school each day in full College uniform. Non-uniform casual clothing items will be confiscated and taken to the General Office for collection by a parent/carer.

We appreciate families supporting the College by ensuring students leave home in the correct uniform each morning. Consistent uniform expectations help maintain a sense of pride, belonging and high expectations across our college community.
