Year 9 & 10

Pathways, Subject Selections and Positive Choices

As we move through Term 3, our Year 9 and 10 students are beginning to make important decisions about their future pathways. This is an exciting time for students as they start to think about the subjects they enjoy, their strengths and interests, and the opportunities they would like to pursue in the years ahead.

Year 10 – Careers Counselling and Subject Selections

Year 10 students have recently participated in careers counselling sessions to help them explore their options for 2027 and beyond. These conversations provided students with an opportunity to discuss their interests, strengths, career aspirations and possible pathways.

Students were encouraged to carefully consider their subject selections and to seek advice from their teachers, careers team and families when making these decisions. The choices they make now can help create opportunities for their future.

Year 9 – Subject Selections

Year 9 students are also beginning the process of selecting subjects for Year 10. Students should take the time to consider subjects that reflect their interests, strengths and future goals.

Subject selection is not simply about choosing subjects that friends are doing. Students should think about what they enjoy, where they perform well and what subjects may support their future pathway.

Making Positive Choices Matters

We also want to remind all students that the choices they make at school today can influence the opportunities available to them tomorrow.

Positive choices around attendance, behaviour, effort, organisation and learning are important foundations for future success. Students who consistently attend school, engage in their learning, complete their work and demonstrate positive behaviour are better positioned to achieve their goals and make strong pathway choices.

Your pathway starts with the choices you make today.

We encourage all Year 9 and 10 students to take responsibility for their learning, make positive choices and seek support when they need it. Every day is an opportunity to improve, grow and take another step towards their future.

Celebrating Student Growth

It has been wonderful to see the growth and development of many of our Year 9 and 10 students this year. Students are demonstrating greater maturity, confidence and independence in their learning and are increasingly taking responsibility for their choices and progress. We have seen students who face challenges make positive changes, improve their attendance, strengthen their relationships and become more engaged in their learning. This growth is a reminder that progress looks different for every student, and that small, consistent steps can lead to significant improvements over time. We encourage all students to continue focusing on making positive choices, setting achievable goals and striving to be the best version of themselves.
