TEAM ACTION TERM 3.

Round 3 - Victorian HPV Series, Sandown Raceway. 

The excitement was high as for Round 3 of the Victorian HPV Series. Riders were met with cold, wet and challenging conditions. Both teams faced a tough battle throughout the race, with strong competition making the fight for the lead extremely close. Team Adrenaline had to wait until 1:30pm before taking the lead for the first time, but once in front, they held off Jells Park Primary School’s Team Raptor to finish two laps clear and record their third straight victory. 

Whiplash showed incredible resilience after an unfortunate tyre failure in the middle of the hill cost them valuable time. Despite the setback, the team continued to push through the difficult conditions and finished in a highly respectable 7th place.

It was another great example of the skills, teamwork and resilience that students develop through the HPV program.  We are incredibly proud of the effort shown by every rider and team member and look forward to seeing what the teams can achieve in the final round of the season as we aim for a second Junior Open state title.

TRAINING AND STUDY UPDATE.

Term 3 training has seen our riders continue to make fantastic progress, with personal best times being set at Tom Flood Sports Centre as both endurance and speed continue to improve. Students are also taking on greater responsibility during training sessions, confidently leading warm-ups, organising activities and supporting other riders. This growing independence shows the real ownership students now have of the HPV program and the pride they take in being part of the team. On Monday and Wednesday afternoons, students are also beginning mock Design and Technology presentations, along with display and presentation practice, with a strong focus on developing their content knowledge and building confidence when speaking aloud. We also had the opportunity to work with Jo from Trailhead Coaching who taught our team members valuable mechanic skills that we can transfer to our trikes.

SUSTAINABILITY RECOGNITION.

Last week, Alice from Resource Smart Schools visited the Epsom Primary School HPV Team to recognise the students' continued commitment to sustainability. Alice presented the team with a special sustainability decal, which will be proudly displayed on both trikes at the 2026 Energy Breakthrough. The decal celebrates the team's achievement of winning the sustainability award for two consecutive years and recognises the students' ongoing efforts to make our HPV program more environmentally sustainable.
