Grade 3 & 4

Dear Grade 3/4 Families, 

We have had a fantastic start to Term 3 and are incredibly proud of the way our students have settled back into their learning. They have returned with positive attitudes, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn, helping to create a calm and productive classroom environment. It has been wonderful to see our S.T.A.R. values on display every day as students continue to Strive for Excellence, Take Pride, Act Responsibly, and Respect Our Community.

Just a few friendly reminders when we return in Term 4: 

⭐ PE & Healthy Bodies Days - Please ensure your child wears comfortable uniform and suitable shoes for movement.

📚 Library & Home Reading - Don’t forget to pack your child’s library bag and decodable reader - if assigned one.

🧢 Hats & Drink Bottles - A wide-brimmed hat is essential for outdoor play, and a water bottle helps keep students hydrated throughout the day.

🥗 Healthy Lunchboxes - We encourage nutritious snacks and lunches to fuel growing minds. Please remember that lollies are not allowed at school.

🚫 Toys at School - To avoid distractions and lost items, we ask that toys stay at home.

🚫 Make-up, Beauty Products and Jewellery at School - To avoid distractions and lost items, we ask that all make-up, beauty products and jewellery stay at home.

I had lots of fun and dressed up as a Vet and saw some people in their work uniform to show us what they do. - Aimee C

I dressed up as a nurse like my mum. I liked it because we had people come to our school wich was a firefighter, police and my mum who is a midwife and I also liked it because I saw everybody's costume. - Emma L

I dressed up as a teacher for Occupation’s Day 2026 because of my dream of teaching myself because after the past 5 and a half years it has looked fun to teach and what it would be like when the grade 6 kids are at graduation and say me as their favourite teacher. - Spencer M

Occupation day was good because I got to see what everyone dressed up as or what you want to be when you grow up. I went as a footy player. - Mason S

I went as a teacher and Milly did so I was her helper and the best part about it was meeting a police, detective, fire man and a mid wife. - Ava M

For occupation day, I dressed up as a  balloon dancer. I loved everyone's outfits; they were creative and unique! - Bella T

 I liked occupation day because I dressed as a midwife costume. I also got to listen to Catherine, Emma's mum - Ruby W

Occupation day was so fun I got to go as a Marine Biologist and Rob came in and told all of the 3\4 cohort what it took to become a firefighter. Miss B got in really cool looking gear and helmet. - Thomas D

Gym was soooooo good because I love to be energetic, and this was my chance to do it during school time! I had the nicest coaches ever, and they would always help me when I didn't know how to do it or I had forgotten. And I finally learned how to do a proper cartwheel! Thank you so much Summersalt! - Lily M

Gym was amazing, I got to do so many things that I didn't know how to do.I get to do my favourite thing… trampling!! I got to show a class what to do, I was so happy I did it and it was called summersalt, not Jets. It was so big! It was a blast to do it, I think all the teachers like it too, everyone loves it!!  - Martine S

The best bit of the gym was the bars because we got to do flips and cool tricks. It was really cool every day. It got harder and harder. My second favorite event was floor. - Abbi M

Gym was TREMENDOUS  because we got to do somersaults on the bars and roll on like  some sort of wheel. It was amazing. - Mason S

I liked the exercises a lot and I enjoyed jumping in the massive airbag a lot too. My favorite was the floor because we can jump over blocks, and run around a lot, but sometimes I get tired. - Harry J

When we arrived at gym we started with a warm up. The last season was fun we got to see somebody do flips on the valet. - Poppy M

I really liked gym because I get to learn different things on beans, trampoline, bars and doing different things about gym and i also liked how we get to do activities when we arrive at gym. - Sara T

The part that made me laugh the most was when the characters played soccer. - Jakobi T

 At the puppet show, people from Camp Quality came to Epsom and did a puppet show about cancer. One thing I learnt was that cancer can not spread between people.- Abbi M

At the puppet show we learnt about brain cancer which is called a tumour. I enjoyed the puppet show because it was funny. - Ava M

This experience was so fun, interesting and a good learning opportunity. I learnt a lot about cancer, like how it develops and facts about it. Ariel and Tom were so calm about it, and it really encouraged me to learn a little more and find out how I can help. - Lily M

The puppet show was so cool and I learnt lots about cancer and how it worked it was really fun to watch! - Alice P.

I loved this show, it was interesting the story was about cancer. It was cool when a boy named Tom played his semi finals soccer match and won. Ariel had cancer and had an operation and her cancer went away. - Koby C

The puppet show was cool but a bit sad at the same time because the girl had cancer but she survived the cancer and the boy was the best! He was funny. - Beau G

I loved the book week parade because I liked every costume and because I won an award. - Sienna.

I really enjoyed mine and everyone's outfits, some people dressed up as pickles and I laughed a lot. Also I saw some teachers dressed up as Alice’s Wonderland, and my sister dressed up as Nancy Drew. - Harry J

For book week I went as Alvin and the chipmunks, Milly was Simon, Mia was Theodore I was Alvin. The costume I liked the most was Olivers. - Ava M

On Thursday the 27th of August the book week parade started. All the kids dressed up as marvellous, quirky and quite different. All the costumes look amazing! Lot’s of the kids enjoyed themselves and had an awesome day. The winners for 3/4M were myself and Emma, I came First and Emma came second. I got a book and a certificate and Emma got a certificate. All the kids enjoyed themselves and had a great day. - Zara W.

I was dressed up as a Little Red Riding Hood and I had so much fun doing the Macarena! It was super funny. - Bella T

The funniest part was when a student had to chase the dogs, and when they caught them I laughed! - Jakobi T

My favourite part of the blurbs was when we got to dance for vegies and it was really when summer got to dance with me too - Scarlett E

I enjoyed Blurbs because some bits were really funny, and I liked the kids vs teachers showdown. Also I really liked all the stories that were told. - Harry J

Funny and they had a lot of volunteers. It had 4 books, pig the winner, Dear Broccoli, The Emperor's Egg and Bored. - Walker G.

Blurbs was great, I got to perform it was so FUN to do and I got to go backstage and dress up in Chinese clothes. There did a lot of songs plus I got to interview the cast like Min she was amazing! - Martine S.

I loved the Blurbs because it was funny and weird. The best part was they read the book Dear Broccoli. - Finn Wel

I enjoyed making the board games with my sister and dad. I also really liked when we got to play and draw all the fun stuff on the snakes and ladders, but we made chips and ladders.  We went to the green nest but played soccer and cricket. - Harry J

My dad came and we played naughts and crosses and then we went down to the Green Nest. Bluey was there, we also saw guinea pigs. I love Pirate and Rafiki. Although we could not see the chickens we still had lots of fun. - Blair

Me, my Dad Logan and Mahalia played naughts and crosses, we rotated around so everyone could play a round with my Dad. We went down to the Green Nest and we showed my Dad all of the animals and the little water stream. - Ava M

On the afternoon of the fathers day open classroom we got to spend time with our dads and do activities. - Cruz C.

In Father’s Day Open Classroom Afternoon i had a great time creating a board game with Luna and playing it (Luna is unbeatable the closest I ever got is 3 ties). We also got to go to the Green Nest and show our fathers what the school looks like. The sportshed was also open for us to get anything out and use it. So in conclusion Father’s Day Open Classroom Afternoon was AWESOME! - Spencer M.

I had so much fun seeing friends and other dads, it was nice to meet new people and play sports like cricket and basketball and playing o and xs designing and also having fun that was my fathers day. - Walker G.

📚 Australia and its Neighbours

This term, students have been exploring Australia and its neighbouring countries through our Literacy unit. We have been reading a range of informative texts and learning about the geography, history, cultures, landmarks and unique features of countries across our region. Students have been developing their comprehension skills by identifying main ideas, making connections, finding key information and drawing inferences from texts.

The most interesting country I wrote about was China. I learnt about the pretty blossoms they have in spring. - Jakobi T

During Term 3 we worked on countries. My favourite was Japan because the food looked delicious. - Bella T

We looked at lots of different countries in literacy. I learnt that China has over a billion people in total. An interesting thing was that the Pacific islands have 48 000 of them and 3 000 are inhabited. Mason S

in literacy we have been learning about Australia and its neighbours so far we have done about 10. - Nova W.

I love how we have been learning about the countries around Australia like China, New Zealand and much more! - Alice P.

🔢 This Term

This term in Mathematics, students have been developing their understanding of multiplication and division and applying these skills to money and worded problems. We have also been exploring measurement, including comparing and measuring objects, as well as investigating the perimeter and area of 2D shapes and angles. Students have enjoyed engaging in practical chance experiments, making predictions and discussing the likelihood of different outcomes.

I have been doing lots of making groups and sharing into groups.  I have enjoyed this lots. -

I now know how to do multiplication and division algorithms. I still need some practise. - Blair

In numeracy this term we learnt about algorithms with multiplication and division. At first it was hard, I got confused but after some practise I got it in the bag. - Mason S

Numeracy is so fun this term. I learned the times tables with the algorithm that I did’t know how to do but now I am an expert at it. Miss M has made it so fun to do and so easy to do. - Martine S.

In numeracy, we have been learning about algorithms, a way to figure out multiplication! It has been really fun so far. I thought this would be really hard, but it was actually really easy, thanks to Miss M! It was also really fun because we played games to help and we talked about it together! - Lily M

In math we have been working on division and multiplication . The strategy that we have been learning are the Box method, Algorithm and Bar. - Finn Wel
