Student Shoutout
The Whole Grade 5 student cohort deserves a shoutout after their efforts at the grade 5 Athletics day. All the students represented their houses with pride and made the day an excellent one with their passion and enthusiasm. All students were supportive of each other which was great to see!
Preps
The Preps are focused on their throwing and their catching. They have practiced their bucket catch and now they are transitioning into a high catch which involves the students putting their hands into a triangle position above their head like the picture below.
Grade 1s and 2s
Grade 1s and 2s have been applying their throwing and catching skills into games of skittles and clean up the yard. Both games involve aiming over a net, throwing with power and accuracy. They have been using their catching skills to catch balls and comets to stop them from hitting the ground and the pins.
Grade 3s and 4s
Grade 3s have been focusing on their striking and their fielding skills. They have been identifying where the most dangerous striker and base is so they can restrict scoring and improve fielder outcomes.
Grade 4s have been learning how to maximise their run scoring while also restricting the other team's ability to score. They have been focusing on setting up an effective fielding structure to restrict scoring and use communication to get the striking team out.
Grades 5s and 6s
Grade 5s have been focusing on the game of softball with skills focusing on striking a moving ball in the air and tagging out strikers. Students have been focusing on moving the ball between fielders effectively to beat strikers to the base and tag them while they are still on the way.
Grade 6s have moved onto a new unit at Tarneit Rise this term, which looks into movement analysis. Students have been recording themselves and their peers undertaking various movements and then rewatching in slow motion to see where they can improve.
Team of the Week
Team of the week is a starting 11 of students who have shown the school values in all areas of PE. They may not always be the most talented, but they have the best attitudes and eagerness to learn when it comes to PE.
