Concert Band Incursion

Claire Toffolon

The new performance stage came alive with sound on Thursday, April 3, as over 60 students participated in our Concert Band Incursion. The event brought together Year 7 Music students and dedicated instrumentalists from Years 8-10 for a collaborative musical experience.

Under the guidance of guest conductor Matt Toffolon from the Hamilton & District Concert Band, students formed one ensemble showcasing the progress made in their instrumental studies.

For our Year 7 students, who have been diligently practicing their woodwind, brass or percussion instruments during this semester's Music program, the incursion provided a valuable opportunity to develop ensemble skills. These young musicians demonstrated remarkable progress throughout this session.

The event also benefited our older students from Years 8-10, who not only enhanced their own ensemble abilities but took on mentoring roles, assisting and encouraging the younger musicians throughout the session.

We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Toffolon for his expert guidance and to Mr. McCarron for his valuable assistance with Bass Guitar. We look forward to showcasing our students' musical growth at the Arts Show on June 11th. Students interested in further developing their ensemble skills are encouraged to join the Junior Concert Band, which meets Tuesday lunchtimes and is currently preparing for an Eisteddfod performance in June.
