Middle Learning Community

We had a wonderful and busy time at Camp Kookaburra. Well done to all the students who stepped outside of their comfort zone and tried something new. It was wonderful to see new friendships formed and lifelong memories created. A huge thank you to our wonderful parent helpers. Your support and willingness to give up your time helped make camp a memorable experience for our students. We truly couldn't have done it without you!

Congratulations to all the students who participated in St Joey’s Got Talent. We were amazed by the confidence and talent showcased by our MLC students. It was wonderful to see so many students step onto the stage and share their unique gifts with the school community.

Year 3

In Maths, the students have been completing another Multiplication and Division unit. We are encouraging the students to continue practising their timetables at home.

We are still reading our class text ‘The Iron Man’ and the students have been creating an information report all about Iron.

Thank you to all the students who have brought in their Reconciliation books, it has been wonderful seeing the students reflect on their lives. We are very much looking forward to celebrating their Sacrament of Reconciliation with them on September the 11th. Year 3 are also on assembly prayer that day, so please feel free to come along.

Year 4

In literacy, students have started reading Storm Boy.

The story is set in the Coorong region of South Australia, a remote coastal area, and follows Mike Kingley, an 11-year-old boy known as Storm Boy. He lives with his father, Hide-Away Tom. Storm Boy earns his nickname after being found alone during a dangerous storm as a child, an event that left a lasting impression on the local villagers. One day, Storm Boy and his father discover that hunters have killed a pelican mother, leaving behind three orphaned chicks. Storm Boy rescues and nurtures them, naming them Mr Proud, Mr Ponder, and Mr Percival. He forms a particularly strong bond with Mr Percival, who later returns to him after being released into the wild.

In Math's, we have been learning about fractions and their associated decimals in tenths and hundredths. Our next unit is looking at Location and looking at maps.
