PBL Lessons Week 9 and 10

Value: Resilence

Focus: I show a growth mindset

In week 9 students will be learning about growth mindset as part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program. We will help students understand that they can develop their skills, behaviours and confidence through effort, practice, reflection and perseverance.

Students will explore what it means to:

  • Have a go, even when something feels difficult.
  • Learn from mistakes and use them as opportunities to improve.
  • Use positive self-talk such as “I can’t do it yet” rather than “I can’t do it.”
  • Reflect on their choices and think about what they could do differently next time.
  • Recognise and celebrate their own growth and the growth of others.
  • Connect a growth mindset to our PBL values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Safety.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by celebrating effort, persistence and progress rather than focusing only on the end result. Together, we can support our students to see challenges as opportunities to learn, grow and become the best version of themselves.

Focus: I move safely

In week 10 students will be focusing on Safety as part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program. Students will explore what it means to make safe choices and take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.

Students will learn to:

  • Identify safe and unsafe choices in different situations.
  • Follow school expectations and safety routines.
  • Use safe hands, feet and words when interacting with others.
  • Think about how their choices and actions can impact those around them.
  • Speak up and seek help from a trusted adult when something doesn’t feel safe.
  • Make responsible choices in the classroom, playground and wider school environment.

Through our PBL lessons, we will continue to reinforce that being safe is everyone’s responsibility. We encourage families to talk with their children about how they can make safe choices at home, at school and in the community.
