Year 4 Mini Vinnies – Coats for a Cause 

On Monday 31st August, our fabulous Year 4 students, as our school’s Mini Vinnies Representatives, led a whole-school Social Justice Initiative which connected with Social Justice Sunday and our school's ongoing commitment to Catholic Social Teaching. Their focus was based on providing information to our school community about food insecurity and taking action to help people within our community.

Those present were encouraged to consider:

• Every coat represents someone in our school community who chose to help.  
• Every two cans represent food that can now support someone experiencing food insecurity.

It was fantastic to see the powerful visual representation of our collective impact. Together, the school community were able to see how many people can be helped when an entire community takes one small action.

This whole school event encouraged students to engage with, take action, and demonstrate Catholic Social Teaching and discipleship within our school and the wider community and recognise the positive impact their actions can have on others. Our students fully embraced our school theme for this year, ‘Follow in His Footsteps’ and showed discipleship in action by donating a fantastic 305 cans of food for those struggling with food insecurity. 

Thank you to Miss Bland and the Year 4 students for organising this initiative for our school. Thank you to our fabulous Stella Maris community for your outstanding kindness, support and generosity for those in need. All donated food will be used by volunteers from the Mordialloc SVDP Conference who will distribute them as they visit those in need.

Our Father’s Day LIturgy led by the Prep students will take place tomorrow, Friday 4th September @ 2.30pm, in the Church Please join us if you can.
