SOCCER - INTERMEDIATE GIRLS AND SENIOR BOYS

INTERMEDIATE GIRLS SOCCER

KSC Inter Girls brought together an exciting mix of experienced players who play at League, Regional and State level and those who had never played soccer outside of PE classes who faced their first opponents, Leongatha with nerves that quickly dissipated as the girls realised that their speed and tenacity was getting the ball to KSC feet and through defence lines to ensure plenty of possession and some great shots on goal. Ruby scored a sneaky shot into the back of the net during a scramble in the penalty box. The girls held Leongatha off against very good challenges to finish the game 1-1. The second game against Bass Coast Dudley saw keeper, Shelby, make some great saves, and strikers Ella and Tianah make a nuisance of themselves to steal the ball and threaten the goalkeeper, but they succumbed to a loss. The last fixture game against Mary MacKillop provided an opportunity for Shelby to make some critical intercepts in midfield and Cody was then able to don the gloves and make some mighty saves on the few occasions that the ball made it past our midfield. Ultimately, the girls conceded the last game to a well-matched team who found it difficult to dominate our tenacious midfield with Ruby and Dani, and very strong back line consisting of Sophia, Tilly, Emily and Lily. Low- scoring defeats are a testament to their cohesion and determination.

SENIOR BOYS SOCCER - WONTHAGGI 11/6/26

The Senior Boys Soccer team showed outstanding determination at the recent interschool competition, competing all day with just ten players.

Despite being a player short, the boys never stopped working, pushing every opponent to the limit in three highly competitive matches. Their teamwork, resilience and positive attitude were on display throughout the day.

Against Mary MacKillop, the boys fought back from 2–0 down with two excellent goals from Zane, including a brilliant finish from a tight angle, before narrowly going down 3–2.

In the second match against Leongatha, strong defensive efforts led by Chad kept the team in the contest, while Zane found the net again. Despite another courageous effort, the boys were edged out 2–1.

The final game against Chairo produced some of the team's best football of the day. Chad scored with a classy chip over the goalkeeper before Evan finished off a perfectly timed run and pass. Once again, the boys pushed hard until the final whistle but fell 3–2.

Special mention goes to Jayden in goals, whose safe hands, bravery and willingness to take on feedback kept the team competitive throughout the tournament.

While the results didn't quite go our way, every player contributed and represented the College with pride. Their commitment, sportsmanship and determination were outstanding and a credit to the school.

Well done, boys!
