YEAR 11 CAMP

MELBOURNE CAMP
During the three-day Melbourne camp, students participated in a range of educational, recreational, and social activities designed to broaden their experiences and build independence.
Day 1 began with travel from school to Deakin University Burwood Campus to experience the life of a university student. Students attended a presentation followed by a campus tour including a tour of the campus accommodation. After checking into accommodation in the Melbourne CBD, students visited the Richmond Football Club for a presentation from the Richmond Institute. The Richmond Institute provides a course with a focus on business and sports management. The evening included team-building and social activities at Crown, such as mini golf (Holey Moley), dinner, and a movie (Toy Story 5). Students were able to soak in the city on a glorious Winter Melbourne night.
Day 2 focused on exploring Melbourne and learning through cultural experiences. Students visited the Melbourne Museum visiting both the General Exhibition and the First Nations exhibition. Students then had the opportunity to have lunch at the Queen Victoria Market. In the afternoon, they completed a self-guided tour of the Melbourne Aquarium. The day concluded with shopping and dinner at Melbourne Central, followed by bowling at STRIKE and enjoying some dessert at Ben and Jerry’s.
Day 3 centred on future pathways, with students visiting Monash University for a campus experience. Students attended a presentation followed by a campus tour of primary buildings and facilities, a tour of the campus accommodation and an opportunity to have lunch at campus centre. After this final activity, students returned home.
