SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Members of our School Community,
I would like to sincerely thank you all for your unwavering support over the past 20 months. It has been both an honour and a privilege to serve as Acting Principal during this time. As a school, we have navigated some challenging circumstances, and I am deeply grateful for the resilience, trust, and collective commitment to the College shown by our staff, students, families, and wider community. This has been evident again this week as we come to terms with the loss of one of our staff members, music teacher Jamie Brandsma, who was a highly regarded guitar teacher and member of the South Gippsland Schools Music Program. His loss is felt across all the school communities and students in the program.
As I reflect on my time as Acting Principal, I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together and the way our school community has remained strong, connected, and focused on the wellbeing and success of every student. Many of our data sets have continued to show growth, especially in Student Attitudes to School data, and our attendance data. It is humbling to know that so many people and organisations in Korumburra care so deeply about the youth of our area and want to support the College and its students to thrive. I am deeply grateful for the many connections I have been able to build and strengthen between the College and our community, including sponsorship and funding for projects.
I am also proud of the physical infrastructure we have put in place including the CrossFit stations for our students and the vibrant signage that warmly welcomes all who visit the College, reflecting our strong connection to Country and community. I look forward to seeing the installation of footy nets, which is the next student voice project to be funded through support from the Community Engagement Group and Active Schools Victoria.
As we look ahead, I welcome our new Principal, Emmanuel Skoutas. I hope that you will extend the same support and care that has meant so much to me during my time in this role. I invited Emmanuel to write an introduction to the community which is included below.
Thank you once again for the opportunity to serve the Korumburra community.
Warm regards,
Naomi Coleman
