Terrific Times in Year Two

This week in Religion we began learning about the important role of a priest in the Catholic Church. Students shared their ideas about what a priest is and what they do before discussing how priests are special leaders who guide people in their faith, celebrate Mass and care for their parish community. You can continue this learning at home by asking your child to explain the role of a priest and discuss the ways priests help others.

In Mathematics, we have started our unit on multiplication. Students were introduced to arrays and explored how they help us organise objects into equal rows and columns. We learnt that arrays can be used to write both a repeated addition equation (e.g. 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12) and a multiplication equation (4 × 3 = 12). Understanding arrays helps students make the connection between repeated addition and multiplication.

At home, encourage your child to spot arrays in everyday life (such as egg cartons, muffin trays, windows or chocolate blocks) and practise writing both the repeated addition and multiplication equations to match.
