The Power of Gratitude

As part of our The Resilience Project lessons, students have been learning about the importance of practising gratitude. Gratitude is about taking time to notice and appreciate the people, experiences, and things that bring joy and meaning to our lives. Research shows that regularly practising gratitude can improve happiness, strengthen relationships, reduce stress, and build resilience.

Throughout our lessons, students have been exploring ways to recognise the positive things in their lives and express appreciation for others. Simple practices such as sharing "three good things" from their day, saying thank you, or writing a gratitude note can have a positive impact on their wellbeing.

At school, students have been exploring simple ways to practise gratitude, such as:

  • Sharing something they are thankful for each day.
  • Writing or drawing gratitude reflections.
  • Recognising acts of kindness from others.
  • Expressing appreciation to friends, family members, and teachers.
  •

You can help reinforce these skills at home by encouraging your child to:

  • Share three good things that happened during their day.
  • Say "thank you" and explain why they appreciate someone.
  • Keep a simple gratitude journal.
  • Write a thank you note or draw a picture for someone who has helped them.
  • Talk about the positive moments in their day, even when things have been challenging.
