Year 1/2 News

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all our Grade 1/2 families enjoyed a restful holiday break. We're looking forward to yet another wonderful term.

LITERACY

We have begun this term with our Poetry Unit. We have been exploring rhyming and alliteration. Students have also created their own cinquain poems. 

MATHS

Over the past two weeks, we have been developing our place value knowledge and number sense. Students have participated in a range of hands-on activities, using skip counting to count large collections efficiently. Our Grade 1/2 students have also been building on their partitioning skills (e.g. 356 = 300 + 50 + 6) by learning to rename numbers in different ways. For example, they now understand that 356 can also be represented as 35 tens and 6 ones.

GRADE 2 SLEEPOVER

The Grade 2 Sleepover is happening next Thursday (Week 3 – 30th July)! Please take a moment to revisit the packing list and information note available on XUNO. Parents/guardians are welcome to drop off or collect bedding at a time that is convenient for you. A gentle reminder that students will need to either bring a packed lunch for Friday or order lunch through the Qkr! app.
